GREENSBORO, NC - May 20, 2010 - Breslow Starling's Keith Hiatt has received the 2010 Marie E. Moyer, CLU Distinguished Service Award from the Greensboro Chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professional.

Since the Greensboro Chapter was organized 60 years ago, there have been numerous members who have played a key role in promoting its professional development programs. In 1994, the Chapter adopted the Distinguished Service Award, the Chapter's highest honor. In creating the Award, the Chapter decided that it would only be presented to an individual whose outstanding contributions were so noteworthy as to deserve the special honor, rather than be made annually. Secondly, selection would be based on a combination of factors which evidenced exceptional leadership and commitment to the highest professional standards:

  • Professionalism within the industry. -Exceptional individual career achievements.

  • Maintaining a consistent and highly supportive role in each of the Chapter's programs.

  • Prominent service in the support of civic, cultural and humanitarian interests.

Keith is a CPA and has 30 years of experience in the areas of corporate and individual taxation, with a special emphasis on tax, estate, retirement and financial planning for individuals and owners of closely held businesses.  Keith has a passion for helping individuals and businesses save taxes. He emphasizes the need for tax planning before tax preparation. He assists clients with an "Annual Financial Checkup" as a critical step to stronger financial health.  His experience includes assisting foreign nationals working in the U.S. and U.S. citizens working overseas. Much of this international experience began with his employment with Deloitte, a large international accounting firm (where he was employed for 11 years).

Keith is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants, the Greensboro Estate Planning Council and the Greensboro Chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professionals. He has served as president of these two latter organizations. He has attained the Accredited Estate Planner (AEP) designation from the National Association of Estate Planners and Councils.

Keith received his Bachelors of Science and Masters in Accountancy degrees from Brigham Young University and is a graduate of Leadership Greensboro. His Leadership Greensboro study group helped start HealthServe Inc. - an organization devoted to providing health care to the poor and needy.
